About Us |

Scouting has programs for young people from 5 to 26 years old (both
male and female), and lots of fun for leaders, too. Check out
our "Group Locater" page for more
information about times and locations available. You may also contact Brian Wick, Membership volunteer:
membership@whitbyscouts.org.
There will be a Whitby District registration night Wednesday, August 20, 2008, from 7-9 pm.
Volunteers will be on hand at the RCSS Real Canadian Super Store, northwest corner of Taunton Rd and Brock St Whitby,
in the upper area of the store where they often offer food prep courses.
Returning members can pay their renewal and new members can get information about various groups and meeting places.
The Scouts Canada membership fee for Sept 2008-Aug 2009 is $130, the plus group fee.
On May 10, 2008 Scouters Brian Wick and Greg Luke received the Czech Republic Scouts “Award of Gratitude” for fostering a long term exchange relationship between Whitby Area Venturers and Rovers and Scouts from the eastern Czech village of Dub nad Moravou. They have travelled to Czech Republic with youth four times and hosted 21 Czech youth and leaders in the Whitby Area.
Road and Trail Cleanup fall clean up is scheduled for Nov 1st, 2008. All members are encouraged to attend. The program is part of the "Adopt a Road" program administered by the Town of Whitby. Beavers and Cub will clean up the lakeshore trail and Whitby Scout Trail, while older youth will collect debris from Brock Street between Rossland and Taunton Roads.
Read all about the new Whitby Scout Trail at http://groups.msn.com/whitbyscouttrail located in the Pringle Creek valley lands from the corner of Bradley Drive and Pringle Drive in the south to just south of Manning Road in the north. This joint project of Scouts Canada, Whitby Area and the Corporation of the Town of Whitby was opened officially on Saturday, February 17, 2007. Is you haven't yet visited, be sure to go check it out.
This is a tremendous shared project between local scouting and the municipality, for the benefit and enjoyment of the community, and is a fitting acknowledgement of the centennial of Scouting. Al Halton (the driving force behind this long-term initiative) has ideas, with the Town of Whitby, to extend the trail further.
Bring on the Adventure!
